15. Questions
One day, a neighbor asked Hodja:
- Why do you always a question with another question?
He replied:
- Do I?
16. I’m using it.
Hodja’s neighbor wanted to borrow his clothes-line, but Hodja said:
- Sorry, but I’m using it. I’m drying flour on it.
- How in the world can you dry flour on a clothes-line?
- Well, it’s not so difficult when you don’t want to lent it out!
17. At the mill
Once Hodja went into a nearby mill and began to take handfuls of grain out of the sacks and put them into his own. The miller came in and demanded:
- What are you doing here?
- I am a fool, quipped Hodja. I just have to do whatever comes into my mind!
- Well, how come it never came into your mind to take wheat out of your sack and put it into mine?
- Sir, he replied, I am a just normal fool. I am not an absolute idiot!
18. The genius.
The Hodja’s little boy was talking away one day and said:
- Daddy, I can remember the day when you were born!
The Hodja looked at his wife proudly and said:
- Our son, the genius!
